Pedals won't come off - help .... ?

I'm trying to fit my new clipless pedals. However, the old pedals won't come off! They appear to have been tightened very well by ... erm ... me

Any ideas please. And yes, I'm trying to remove them the correct way.

Note: they're now removed. Thanks for the advice. And yes, grease was used originally, more on the replacements.

got a nice retro crank set with a pr of knackered pedals seized in them that wont budge , now matter what

must admit didnt want to go that far , keep soaling them in plus gas , etc etc .

but might have to go that route

Did you use white grease on the pedals last time?

I think pedals can self tighten which is why one is a LH thread. I don't tighten mine more than just nipping them up. Warning, be careful that you don't slip and end up "punching" the chainwheel.

Exactly right. It's only a small effect, but it's cumulative.
