what on earth was the 'triplet of Germans' the tandem was trying to catch? one up from a tandem? that sound bloody cool

A tandem can have any number of riders in line. A tandem triplet has three. Rarer nowadays are quads and quints.

I saw again on Saturday that odd cycle powered truck, kinda twelve odd people sat around a table pedalling something quite big and high, it seems to be heading south across London bridge whenever i see it
