Thanks for the reminder - just had a squint and seen the chunk missing between the clouds.
You shouldn't really be looking at the sun directly.
There's a partial solar eclipse today, just about finishing now. Got lucky with the clouds parting at the right time and got a good projection on the floor using binoculars.

At last I got to use the free eclipse specs from the Sky at Night magazine I got for an eclipse a few years back....and it was cloudy!.
