Partial solar eclipse today

There's a partial solar eclipse today, just about finishing now. Got lucky with the clouds parting at the right time and got a good projection on the floor using binoculars.

You shouldn't really be looking at the sun directly.

It was clearly visible here in the borders, viewed through strips of fogged B&W film.

Can't you read - I squinted!

Here's the pinhole device I made for the last major eclipse - still perfectly functional. Not optimal viewing conditions and I could do with adding a magnifying screen, but good enough to see a bite out of the sun.

At last I got to use the free eclipse specs from the Sky at Night magazine I got for an eclipse a few years back....and it was cloudy!.

I got a lucky five minute window around the time of maximum occultation.
