Picked up a pack of these yesterday, 6 patches for £3.00. What's the best way to fit them, with some air in the tube, or having it completely flat? I initially thought the patches were too big, and would struggle attach properly to a flat tube as you need to almost wrap them around the tube.

So the one I tested didn't seal correctly, and don't want to waste any more.

Tips?

These are great patches, so easy to use and easy to carry on the bike. Make good plasters too in an emergency.
I put sufficient pressure in the tube so as to give it a bit of shape. Not too much though.

Here for rides.
when you're as cack handed as me there's no point putting owt in the tube as by the time I've got the patch ready it is flat anyway.

There is a knack to using patches.
Always apply with the tube flat.
Prepare the tube as you would normal. Ie rough with the piece of sandpaper and clean.
When applying the patch, it's important that you press down hard on the patch for a good minute or so.
Only pump up the tube when it is in the tyre, not before.

I swear by Park Tools patches. They last just as long as normal patches. Anyone who says they don't work or are not as good as patches/glue haven't used/applied them properly.

Got one on the rear tube of my Tricross that's been there months with no problem, the only issue I've had with them is once you get another flat and the tube deflates they can go a bit wrinkly and need re-doing.
I only tend to patch a tube once anyway, just not worth the bother for £3 or £4

As above.

Ive used the Park tools and the topeak ones and its all i ever use now.

One thing they dont like is the damp though so mine are kept in a sealed bag (the ziplock type ones)
