Firstly sorry if this is a long post but I thought I should include what I have already found out before deciding to post. Having started back in cycling I am looking for rear panniers that will be used mainly on a HPGT and rarely on an old Cannondale (pre suspension MTB). At least initially they will be used for going to the market, shopping and odd days out. I would prefer two singles rather than a linked pair. Ideally they should be relatively easy to carry around when off the bike, decent amount of capacity and relatively cheap in case I change my mind about what I want in 3/6/9/12/24 months time. The ones I was thinking about are the Avenir 23ltr left/right or universal ones which would cost about £40 for the pair. Only down side I can see is that they dont appear to have any form of shoulder strap. Another option might be a couple of cheap 'day rucksacks' which I secure to the rack in some way but they wouldn't have rain covers or reflective strips. Whats anyones view?
