As I mentioned in another posting I am currently struggling with a decision over what bike to purchase.

I really like the look of the Sirrus Elite, however (I am not sure if this is a silly question but I am a novice so please excuse me) would it be possible to put panniers and mudguards of some description on it?

My more sensible choice for a bike is a Kona Dew Deluxe, which I am pretty sure I can put panniers and guards on. However I am worried that I might regret not going for the Sirrus in the long term as I am assuming it will be quicker as a commuter bike.

Any help from anyone a little more experienced (that's everyone) appreciated!

Hi Sam

I was looking at the following page - I think the answer is yes, the forks have "fender mounts" and I can see the mountings for a rear rack on the seatstays.

I could be wrong but somebody else should confirm soon
By the way thats a lovely looking bike!

Perfect

Looks like the answer is yes then!

My next question. Does anyone have any recommendations on mudguards and panniers?

Thanks guys!

Can I answer your first question again?

Yes, no problem at all  That's just the bog standard one but I chose it for it being able to take guards and racks.

That's a very good price on that model you're looking at.

I'm in the market for a new rear rack myself and haven't started looking yet so will keep an eye out for peoples suggestions on that.

The rear panniers are Altura Dryline, very good, decent price, not waterproof any more just shower resistant but a rubble sack keeps things dry.

Wiggle have some DHB waterproof ones that look good value and, if you've got lots of pennies then Ortlieb are considered about the best you can buy.

Mudguards? SKS chromoplastic ones get lots of recommendations if I recall correctly. Think about whether you are likely to want to mount wider tyres when choosing the width you buy.

I'm not sure how easy it is to put a rack on the models with the carbon rear stays.

It would be good to know if you can.
