Recently whilst out on either of my bikes (Road/MTB) ive notice after 10 or so miles i get pain in my hands, feels sore around the sides of my hands and occasionally around my thumb.

Is this due to the gloves i wear or does it sound as though i need ergo grips?

The pain started around 3 weeks ago and its not unbearable more annoying, i thought at first i was holding my bars to hard but i'm definitely not doing that. But i'm having to stretch my hands every 10 or so miles now.

Any ideas?

Ergo grips might help, better gloves. But also check the bike fit, bar width etc. Check you aren't rolling your wrists in and that your weight isn't all through your hands

While I'm waiting for my new bike, I've been borrowing one off a mate to get out on a weekend but it's far too small and I've been having exactly the same problem! Check that the bike is the right size for you. I'm not saying it is that but it sounds very similar.

I had this when I switched bikes (road to MTB). They ached all over and I thought I'd have to change something but they seemed to get used to it after a few weeks. Have you started doing longer distances?

The bikes are the right size i was sized up on both but good point on the bar width. My MTB handlebars are really long and i tend to lean heavy my hands so could be putting undue weight into them.

Not really started doing longer than normal, my average distance other than commuting is around 30miles so nothing major really

I had the same problem and since changing my saddle and moving it forward on the rails I don't have any more issues I have also stopped the numbness I was getting on my outer foot. Worth a try if you tend to over reach as you will naturally end up putting more pressure on your hands to support your body.

It might be because of the way you're sitting on the bike. Could be that your weight is distributed so too much loads is going down on your hands instead of your bottom.
