New ish to Cycling, about a year or so, but more committed recently and cycling daily to work, about 16-20 miles a day depending on the route I take and some leisure cycling at the weekend.

Recently started using SPDs too.

Noticing I am getting pain in my right knee, at the side below the patella, on the knobbly bit. It doesn't hurt when I cycle, but does afterwards.

Been hoping it will just go away but it isn't. I haven't done anything that I can think of to twist or pull it.

Any ideas?

Go to LBS and get them to check your cleat set up .If you can afford it have a proper bike fit they are superb and made a big difference to me.

Hmmmmmm im getting this in my right knee ( It should have been operated on 20 years ago for damage ) I assumed that it was an old injury playing up and I would have to give up clipping in  I cant afford the time off work to have the op and the recovery time needed after so I will be watching this with interest .

Did you get the pain before using SPD's? If not then you may need to look at your seat height, the cleat & solid based cycling shoe will effectively add a little length to your leg, you will now be on the ball of your foot, which again will have the same effect.

Fast and careful!
Are you warming up and down ,stretching post ride, sounds like a tight muscle,I get this I have to load stretch my quads as they get tight and as they join in front of your knee, can cause a problem, start with a fit review as read but make sure you look after your muscles a trip to a physio who specialises in biomechanics ,always hard to say from a forum thread
