Does anyone else get this? I have pain along the outside of my right foot, feels a bit like cramp. It can come on after a mile or it might be 20 miles but almost always seem to get it. I am riding a road bike with mtb clipless pedals, I have tried moving the cleat around but nothing seems to stop it. Any ideas??????

I can get a burning feeling over on the right in one pair of shoes after a while. Either one of the shoes is narrower or one of the feet is wider. I'm guessing it's the foot. But it's worse when it's chilly, I do know that. But in other shoes it's not a problem.

Is it between the 4th and 5th (or 3rd & 4th) toe if you follow the bones into the actual foot (metatarsal bones). If the pain is there, does it go away if you take off your shoes and/or separate your toes with your fingers between them? If it is you may be trapping the nerve between the metatarsal bones and you need to do something about it before it gets too severe (google Morton's neuroma). It is usually caused by too tight fitting shoes - I learnt the hard way and very nearly needed surgery to resolve the problem - something I seriously wanted to avoid. I now have custom orthopaedic innersoles with raised areas to alleviate the pain but it has taken a very long time to heal naturally.

i got pains there when my saddle was too high and cleats to far forward (spd's) sorted it with bike fitting and a little tinkering

Shoes don't feel tight at all and the pain is in the soft tissue on the bottom outside extremity, the bit that would join the back and front of the foot of you were to make a wet foot print with no shoes on

I suffered that for 25 years, a trip to Adrian Timmis for a bike fit and moulded insoles did the job. I spent a lot of money with different parts of the medical profession, a lot of different combinations of shoe and pedal systems, they even hurt riding on flats with walking boots on.

It came on at everything from 1 mile to 20 miles and went away after a few minutes off of the bike, sometime for those few minutes it was almost impossible to stand on that foot.

Screenman, do you know what it was called or what specifically caused it?
