I am loving goig out on my bike especially as weather quite good at moment
I was planning on using it to commute to work and have done a few dummy runs of an evening but the only thing putting me off and spoiling it is my seat
I have padded shorts and padded seat cover but still it is pretty unbearable after a long ride to get back on th enext day

does anyone have recommendations for extra padded seats so i can commute incomfort ?

not sure if seats are different for male or femals but if they are then I am female so recommendations on ladies ones will be great (although mens too will also be helpful for my partner)

Many thanks

I'm afraid a big thick padded seat is only going to make things worse. The padding compresses and rubs bits of you that are never intended to take your weight. You body is designed to rest on the 'sit bones' rather than the fleshy bits.

The best kind of saddle is one that is firm, supportive, and fits your backside. There are indeed male and female saddles, the ladies versions tend to be wider and shorter.

Everyone has a different shaped rear, and therefore a saddle thats comfortable to one will be the equivalent of a medieval torture device to another.
for example, some people swear by Brooks saddles, personally I'd only swear at them.

I've got a Charge Spoon on my road bike, and this is brilliant for me (and quite a lot of others seem to agree). My wife has the equivalent ladies version, the Ladle and likes that too.

Oh, and even when you;ve found a suitable perch, it will take a fair few days before your end of things  gets used to regular riding.

MY misses has a Madison Prima on a road bike, it has taken her 100 miles or so to get used to it and now there is no problems after the ride. I am currently using a stella italia not sure which modle.

Read my advice on here: http://www.cyclechat...est-to-go-with/

OK you probably need a wider saddle than a bloke but DON'T go for a soft one.

You also ought to read up on saddle position and posture - your saddle may be the right shape but just positioned wrongly. For most people the correct posture is very slightly higher at the nose but others say that women need flatter.

Is that you elsewhere asking about a bike shop near Altrincham? Go to Bicycle Doctor in Rusholme, they will give you the best advice.

Charge also do a women specific saddle called the Ladle

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/charge-ladies-ladle-saddle/

(if you order one from Wiggle shout out on the forum for a £5 voucher code, someone will let you have one)

For what it costs you could order one mail order, make sure you get the bike fit right and try it out for a few days. If you still can't get on with it they sell like hotcakes on the 'bay and so you won't lose much money.
