I always ride in padded shorts or culottes, the shorts (Decathlon) have a detachable 'inner' so that you can wear the shorts just as shorts. But the 'inner' could not be worn alone as it is buttoned onto the inside of the shorts.

Does anyone know if i can get a padded 'inner', something like short boxers, so that I could then wear ordinary shorts over them for cycling

I rate the Aldi ones - have to wait until they next do a special purchase though. They haven't had a cycling-specific one this year yet so I'm hoping they will do soon. If I recall the ones I bought last year only cost about a fiver.

If you want to wear normal shorts on top then you are probably better off with a pair of lycra cycling shorts under rather than padded boxers - the cycling shorts material wick sweat better and should also stretch better to be more comfortable.

I've got a couple of pairs of these which I wear under bikesters on the not so hot days. They have a slim pad which is just perfect for me and are cool (in both senses :becool:) Well made and fit good and comfortable.

Be aware they make them without the pad too.
