Leave Oxford station at midnight (open 24hrs, warm, well-lit for hanging around and watching the drunks) then ride to London for breakfast. It's about 67 miles, someone generously makes tea and cake for us at his house exactly halfway, and we get to Paddington or Marble Arch at about 0630.

There are some Very Big Hills crossing the Chilterns - including about a mile of 1 in 6 just to soften us up before we get to the steepest hill in Christendom - and some of the lanes around the Chalfonts are gravelly and technical, although it's a 100% tarmac ride.

PM me if interested, as I don't want to impose too many people on our host.

It's a great trip. I did the first one and really enjoyed the experience (despite the weather). Unfortunately I can't make this one, conditions look good though (sorry Roger).

Go for it Oxford guy!

Weather forecast is dry with a tailwind, although cold. Someone is going to do it on a Brompton. I've discovered that Smalldean Lane is 18%, which is why it feels like a wall.
