Hello, we've just moved to a new flat with no space to store our 2 mountain bikes inside, so they will have to live outside from now on.

They are secure in our back garden, and sitting on concrete patio rather than the grass, but obviously they need something to protect them from the elements and prevent the rust a bit, especially over winter. There's not the room for a shed, and this sort of thing is very expensive, so I wondered if fabric/plastic covers would be sufficient? I am not worried about being able to carry them around, but more a bout protection from the elements and the wet specifically, what do people think? Any specific types recommended?

They are OK - make sure you tuck the at least one side under the tyres to stop blowing off - I've used one every day for over a year until we got some swanky new covered bike stand at work recently - they do the job, just make sure air can still circulate.

Oh and get some good wall/floor anchors and good locks - not cable locks.....
