Outdoor storage

So, now that we are a 3 bike family the shed is running out of space. There is an alleyway about 2 people wide alongside the house. I am thinking of storing the bikes there behind the side gate. It's pretty secure as the driveway has electric gates ( this sounds far grander than it actually is!).

My thoughts are either some sort of bike stoarge but I was also thinking of some sort of canopy fixed to the wall as a shelter. Anybody have any thoughts on what works for them? I use my bike 3-4 times a week for commuting and quick access is desirable.

Thanks for links. Those were my first thoughts but I guess I'm wondering if anyone has ever done something along the lines of a cover fixed to the wall to keep the bikes dry at a fraction of the cost?

You can just drill a permanent awning type thing onto the wall and it will stop rain falling on the bikes but it won't stop all moisture getting to them.

Mind you a metal box might produce condensate inside in the winter but line it with some foam or a few old blankets and it should be fine.
