I'm looking at these to use as rear panniers, as I currently use a single 20l, but want to balance the bike up by having a smaller bag on each side and these seem to fit the bill in both look and size, plus I have always heard good things about Ortlieb bags but I have a couple of question which I'd like to know before I spend the cash.

Do the bags have any internal pockets? I usually put things like my keys, card key and phone in an internal pocket in my current bag so I get easy access to them.

How easy is the bag to open? As above my keys and phone etc kept in the bag so easy access to the bag is handy, especially since I use GPS tracking on my phone to see how fast I've gone if it takes a while to open the bag and stop the tracking I'll look slower ;)

What's the difference - other than the shiny effect - of the classic and the plus?

Anyone used bikerepublic.com before? they have the classic for £60 which is ~£15 cheaper than anywhere else.

Yes, but not large. There is an insert at the bicycle side, simple area for files, keys, phones etc.

Very quick and simple...

If you dispense with the shoulder strap, simply roll, clip the two clips together and fasten the central clip

If yu retaun the shoulder strap.. roll, feed the atrap through the clip, and fasten the centrao strap.

Unfastening is the oposite

The latter is less stiff which makes fastening quicker and neater. Also slightly lighter. No real difference in performance

Can't help.

The material is different, the plus have a slightly more solid clips which can be rotated to avoid heal strike. They are great panniers but unless they've changed they are cavernous. I've got ortlieb sports packer plus panniers as they were a good size for me. At the time they came with a useful external mesh pocket for keys and stuff that I didn't mind getting wet and I bought an internal pocket for those that I did.

If you know what's good for you ...
Love my rollers. However, they aren't totally indesctructable as some people claim. Last year one of my rear paniers sustained a large abrasion and quite a large cut. They're easily repairable, though. Probably a good idea to buy a repair kit at the same time - just in case.
