Ortlieb front panniers

I believe the 'city' pannier does not have an internal pocket and is also described as being slightly lighter. I have the classic version, both front and rear, and would heartily recommend Ortlieb kit. If i was buying now I would get the cheaper city version.

yeah, leaning towards those ones. I have Ortlieb rear panniers, which i think are good quality.

I have a pair of the front roller city, they have been excellent. Will be putting them up for sale (used to use them on the rear but changed as needed something larger).

Mine are red and apart from a bit of road scum think they are pretty much as new, will check them out and let you know if you are interested?

They look pretty much the same other than the closure system. If as the OP said the internal pocket is the another difference, well go for the cheaper option. I have the roller classics and never use the internal pocket. What about "waterproofness" does the way the rollers close make them less likely to let in water than the other styles?

My only concern with the city's would be the closure system. I know it will be good & water tight etc, but the classics have a little more adjustability for oversized objects, or over packing and I know that I for one, do make good use of the shoulder strap as a shoulder strap when carrying the panniers. (I use my front classics for college.)

Ah yes, hadn't thought about the over sized object bit. I've had a few weird shaped parcels sticking out of my panniers before now lol. Also I've only just closed my classics before now when taking stuff home from work to wash etc. Not ideal if it rains but really useful otherwise.

Yeah the missus will be picking him up, so i'll ask her if she's keen on the shoulder strap. I don't think overloading is a concern.

Mike! i'd be interested in purchasing your city rollers, have IM'd you, cheers.

Thanks all.

If anyone else is interested... I spotted the Ortlieb Front Roller Back Classic Pluses for £65 in the latest CTC magazine.. Old stock 2007 model panniers but should be fine... http://www.bikeplus.co.uk/p/26266/Ortlieb-Front-Roller-Plus-Pannier
free delivery over £50 on orders as well and CTC members get 12.5% extra discount as well which should make them about £56.89 or something around there...

Agree about the shoulder strap, I use mine all the time.

The City pannier doesn't have the strap over the top of the rolled closure, that I use quite often for a wet rain jacket or other quick access items.
