As the title suggests, does anyone know if the ortelieb mounting system is compatible with a Topeak rear rack?

I have the topeak explandable pannier/racktop box and theyre great for the office but I'm looking for something a bit larger with a lower centre of gravity than the topeak setup for touring. It would be great if I could have options without changing the rack each time.

Input appreciated!

Yes, assuming you mean one of the QR Ortlieb mechanisms (I have no knowledge of other Ortlieb mechanisms)

Thanks for all the replies!I would have thought theyre designed to accomodate most rack designs but information on such things is harder than I thought it would be to come across. @raleighnut the ability to slide on the topbox section as well would be a massive bonus, which model carradice bags are you using?

The great big mahoosive ones, Super 'C' I think. The expanding bag slides on easily between them (obviously with the 'drop down' panniers zipped away.
EDIT - just looked at them and they don't have a model name on them and don't seem to be listed anymore but they're similar to the 'carradry' but in a cordura fabric. Big though.

Use ortleib back roller classics on a Topeak super tourist rack on my commuter, fits nicely. If you overfill the panniers then they'll be high enough to interfere with any rack backs that overhang the side, but no real issues.

absolutely magic. Thanks guys!

Its a shame because I did want the topeak foldouts to be an all in one solution but theyre just not big enough for anything more than a change of clothes and a pair of shoes. I'm presuming you can get tonnes more in one of the ortliebs.

You can get more in one ortleib than you can both foldouts, the pockets with a zip compartment are handy for loose stuff too.
