Looking in LBS yesterday, delighted to see they're doing CWS, guy enthused about this one https://www.orrobikes.com/bikes/road/terra-gravel-road hits the limit £1000. I've have every imaginable piece of cycling gear (always room for more of course). Cycle to work 36 mile round trip April - Nov approx 6 times per month, weekend leisure, 30 -60 miles road, disused railway, tracks, paths nothing too tricky.
Anyone got any experience of this bike? Cheers DJ

Ask the chap for a test ride and you too can have experience of the bike. What suits someone else might leave you with bouts of chunder.

Thanks drago, i'm honoured. Yes he's fine with that, but can you really know from a short test ride. I'm here to learn.

Some discussion previously if you search on Orro Terra

Bikeradar has a review findable through google

Just go test ride, dry day, half an hour or so, reckon you'll have a good idea if it's the one. Doesn't sound like you are a newbie to Cycling?

Hi vickser, back riding 3 years now, but haven't really had a go of anything to go by other than my current crosstrail, and other mbt/hybrids hire bikes on holiday. Trouble being busy work/life balance, very little free time..

A short test ride is imperfect, but still the most reliable means of seeing if it's your thing. Better still, if you know someone with one try and borrow it - a morning long loan from a work colleague saved me from an expensive mistake with a Ribble, which I did not take to at all.

I could rant and rave a bikes awesomeness, but unless you're a 48year old 6'3" 19 stone ex power lifter with one arm full of titanium then my experience and requirements are liable to be different to yours. At best I could give you vague impressions about the finish and durability, but even the standard of build is likely to differ with each shop.

There aren't many bad bikes these days - though they are out there - so there's a good chance it'll be a decent machine, but you won't know if it's optimum for you unless you try it. Lots of riders will say "I've got a Tippex model 69 with the carbon frame and it's brilliant", because they don't know any better because they never tried any of the rivals.

And, apart from anything else, you should enjoy the buying experience as well, and a quick meet-and-get-to-know-you ride is part of that.

I suppose i just hit lucky last time, no test rides, generally not heard of round here until recently in my experience. I suppose its just the bafflement of different components and manufacturers, given my narrow definition of what i actually want.
Choice is a great thing as long as you know what your getting for your hard earned cash..
