Ordering problems at decathlon :(

Having a right chew on with this! Been trying to get a pletscher athlete 2b pannier rack for ages. Everywhere I've emailed has been out of stock with no plans to re-stock it. Emailed decathlon who rang me to say they didn't have it but could get it in a few days, and that they would be in touch as soon as they got it. Few days later they called to say it had arrived. They told me I probably wouldn't be able to order it from the website as it would show up as unavailable, but to try anyway. ( They don't take card payments over the phone. )

I tried, and it showed up as unavailable. So I rang them and was told they would give me an item number for something else that was the same price, I would then order and pay for it online and they would send me the correct item. So I did that and now have a reservation to pick up a squash racket instead of a pannier rack being delivered to my house.

I have no idea if the pannier rack is on it's way to me or if there is a squash racket sitting waiting for me at a store hundreds of miles away. I'm loathe to ring them again as I have so far spoken to 5 different people and they all spoke poor english and it was a nightmare trying to understand them. They have actually been incredibly helpful, I'm not trying to put them down at all, I'm just wondering if this is a regular occurence ?

Just had them on the phone, my pannier rack is on it's way. Chuffed to bits, it took a bit of sorting out but they've been really great, so helpful.

Glad to hear it's sorted. Seems they were more than willing to help you out, which is great. I've only had to deal with Decathlon in person (luckily I have a store close by) and they've been brilliant

Yeah I can't fault them on service, it was faffy trying to sort it but they did say they were having a few probs with the website.

Looks like it was updated recently and i have emailed them to tell them i think they made a right pigs ear of it as to me there does not seem to be much thought put into planning it , items tend to be hidden in obscure categories.
