I wonder if it would be possible to substitute the steerer tube for, say, a titanium rod. Obviously the rod would be thinner and would enable 'turning' of the forks. It could mean that the head tube could be sculpted aerodynamically, without increasing the aspect ratio..?

At this elite level, anything* should be allowed as long as it is ordinarily powered - it's inventive and fun. Out with the jobsworths, in with the clevers.

UCI vs bike manufacturers at it again.....Took them long enough to ban it.....sheesh..

I agree! According to quotes from other bike Radar readers the UCI knew about it for 3/4 months!!!!!! Why wait till days before the start of the event to object when another manufacturers product had been accepted - where's the parity?

The UCI really are a complete bunch of tossers. <thinks recumbent bikes and Grahme O'Bree>

Yeah! Obree caught them all napping with his development and inventiveness - later, all bikes looked like his banned one.

Surely the UCI should embace advancement of the sport - as long as it's not cheating of course. Evolve or die!

the Obree thing was revenge by the big manufacturers.

The Spesh thing is just daft. Nobody pretends that time trial bikes are the kind of thing you commute with, so where's the harm? If they were looking for consistency then they'd say that a rider could only change bikes once or twice in a season, and do away with specialist TT bikes altogether.
