Noticing the LBS topic, I was just wondering whether it would be more useful listing the best Online Shops on the internet, seeing as though everyone can access these with a click of a button. I am completely new to road biking, bought a new bike from an LBS but am wanting to buy cheap but good quality clothing online.

Any suggestions on where to shop and where not to shop online?

Thanks!

Parker International & Ribble are both very good imvho

If you're worried about the "notorious" wiggle they offer credit card payment through worldpay, which means they never see your card details, as well as paypal. I use them as well as chain reaction. SJS have been fast and reliable when I have used them also.

I used to think they were but i've been disappointed in parkers recently. Stuff not in stock, they won't say what's in stock and what's not on their website. consequently I ordered stuff from them, i ordered other stuff from other shops more recently and got that first!
And not much communication from them either. can't be bothered with shops where I have to chase my orders - i want it delivered before i've forgot that i've already ordered it and order it again fromsomewhere else!

imho dotbike and chainreactioncycles are my favourite at the moment. both have stock levels on the site, and both despatch fairly quickly.
dotbike also uses the 'verified by visa' system where you have to enter a password that you've set up with your credit card for extra security which is reassuring.
I also like to use merlincycles because they're a small shop of enthusiasts and like to give them the trade. I did think the same of parkers, but they don't seem to be putting the effort in with regards to turnaround and communication.

You get a better picture of service when things go wrong rather than when everything is tickety boo;)

To cut a very long story short, I had problems when purchasing a new bike and accessories and although I didn't know it at the time, I was partly to blame. However, I gave Mark Anthony a very hard time but rather than tell me to take a hike (which I might well have done) he did everything to make me, the customer, happy. How he kept his cool dealing with a git like me, I'll never know. Later on, when I realised my fault, my estimation went up further.
