9th of July 2015 I took my first wobbly ride on a bike for many many years, even back then it was just as a kid knocking about the local streets.
I managed about 6 nervous miles around Radcliffe and was bitten by the bug, since then I have bought a Ribble CR1 and am able to explore a little further afield. Longest ride to date was the 49 miles from Glossop to Doncaster on the TPT in May, my usual distance is 20 - 30 which I find just right for me. I average 10 - 11 MPH so a long way from any club rides.
Not been knocked off ........yet, been close a couple of times, been shouted at, honked at, had car doors opened on me but not yet had a clipless moment.
I am a fair weather rider, retired so I can pick and choose when to go out and with the weather like it is at the moment not going out today.
My total milage for the year is about 1,250

Next outing proper is the Bay Cycle Way in September and next years May outing will be the Lakes and Dales Loop.

Thanks for all the help and tips on here.

Well done i would say 49 miles is no mean feat and you have covered a good number of miles of 1,250.
Little and often is the way i tend to go and returned to cycling as a way of exercising my knees which are not too good and find cycling helps.
I must admit that i have got the cycling bug since returning back after many years although recently i really struggle on hills and have had to resort to a e cycle.
But at least it is getting me out and about.:bicycle:

Well done, keep on pedalling. After a long lay-off, I started back last year too, I'd forgotten how much fun cycling is...........

49 miles? I wish .... longest so far is 56 and that near enough bloody killed me.

I think addictive is an understatement!

Well done!

Well done,and keep it up.
Do you not mean 9th July 2015 ?
As 1250 miles in less than a day is really going some

Ooops.

Well spotted that man. Another mistake not 1250 miles but a mere 1228.

Will try and get 22 miles in tomorrow.

Correct date now in original post.

:laugh::laugh:
I was just pulling your leg my friend,I knew exactly what it was.
Hey,what's 22 miles between fellow bikers :okay:
Still a stellar effort.

Well done. I work in Radcliffe; Eton Hill Road.

The Bay cycle way is a good one - are you planning to take the train to Barrow then allow the westerly to blow you back to Lancaster?

We have a caravan in Grange (yes I am that old). Mrs Domus will drop us off in Barrow then cater for us at the van. Then next day pick us up in Glasson Dock.
