I just cant seem to get out of the bit this year. Earlier on in the year i had an asthma flare up which put me off my bike. Then a chest infection that took ages to shift. then we got really busy at work which ate into my free time. NOW i have discovered a growth like thing in a rather personal place which makes it impossible to cycle. The growth thing was checked out tonight and my doc doesn't think it s anything sinister , which is good news but is sending me to see a specialist anyway. I know there are people out there much worse off than me but i seem to get over one thing and into another. That feels better ....feeling sorry rant over.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell. Don't get me started on what I've been through. Anyway I was wondering what you diet was like? I have asthma to which is controlled via a steroid inhaler but i try not to use it and use the buteyko method. I also use a nutra bullet to give the immune system a boost, it might be something you want to try.

Hope your cycling again soon.:okay:

Nutra Bullet...that sounds sore. What is the Buteyko method ? This is something that i've not heard of. I too have inhalers one steriod ( preventer) and another which is a releaver . I was also put on a course of steriod tablets (8 a day) when i had my flare up. This made me rattle when i walk. Ha ha.

lol , buteyko method is breathing exercises... basically what I do is hold my breath for 15 seconds then breath normally for 1 minute then extend breath hold for 5 seconds each time up to 45 or 1 minute (obviously not while cycling!!!) I found that this after doing this for 15 20 minutes my tight chest and asthma symtoms are not as bad. I think the more you reach for the inhaler the more you will need it, and I found my astma getting worse.

The therory is (apart from allergies and pollen that cause asthma) increased CO2 in the blood affects the lungs, when your holding your breath you are allowing the CO2 levels to go down. It does seem to work and my son does it to. Would love to know if this works for you.

I'm sorry to read this. I hope you get positive news from the specialist and that it'll be relatively easy to sort out.

The asthma is more tricky to make suggestions about as everyone is different. I've been bad in the past but it's improved massively over the last few years and I don't think it's coincidence that it's as my rides have become longer and more frequent.

All the best and I hope you'll be out and about again soon.:okay:

Thanks Phil. I agree with the theory that if i could get out for a stretch of time with no lay offs my asthma would improve . Guess i'll have to be patient till that appointment comes through.:bicycle:

This sounds very interesting DR. I have noticed when i'm cycling for weeks at a time in previous years my asthma improves ten fold. Defo gonna give this a go once i'm through with this "mini Mike " stuck to me.

As soon as get this "thing" removed i'm fixing a big cushion to my saddle and i'll be off.
I suspect that I had a similar thing removed earlier this year, after 6 months of rather intimate poking and prodding it was removed and turned out non harmful. I was back on the bike in a couple of weeks and up to regular riding a couple of weeks after that with no ill effect at all
