Hi all,

Need to have a rant!

Was meant to make my second time trial tonight, was all pumped up and raring to go! Bike was put on rack, got into my cycle gear, put the helmet, shoes and glasses on the back seat. Off we go. Now I am travelling from Bournemouth to Ringwood, should take no more than about 15 minutes, 20 at most. I left at 18:00 and the event starts at 18:45, so plenty of time.

Actually no, it was pointless, as I got stuck in a massive traffic queue, strange I thought I'm heading out of Bournemouth not into it...... Turn on the local radio, and there's been yet another accident on the Spur Road, which is our main road out of Bournemouth. There are so many accidents on this road, you think people would learn to be a little more careful with their driving, but no, they still drive like prats!

So I try to navigate round the traffic with a little local knowledge. Well it was slightly quicker, but not by a lot, as in Bournemouth I think every single road has road works! Obviously this is the intelligent thing to do on the Easter Weekend and with summer approaching, and it being a very popular holiday destination. Of course, bring on the road works, it's not like we have enough traffic jams anyway! So by this point you have a very irate cyclist in a car getting very p*ssed off and I mean very, as time is ticking!

So I manage to get on to the Spur road a little further up and just as I do that a news flash, oh yipee! There has been another accident further up the road and traffic is clogging up again! NO WAY! Do people not get it, you have just been held up because of an accident!!! So when it clears take a bit of care. But no in true drivers style they all go mad and cause another accident. Flaming brilliant. SOOOOOO P*ssed off!!!!!!!!!

Bad luck - sorry to hear you missed out. Must have been extremely frustrating watching the time slip away.
But, yes as 2Loose says, it's always better to ride out for races. Gives you a good warm up, gets you in the right frame of mind and means you don't forget things like your front wheel or cycling shoes (it happens!)
Have to admit that I sometimes take the car when it is early and cold, though!

Well I have calmed down a bit more now. There is always next week.

I would cycle but it's a real pain in the ar*e to get to from where I live, as the main route is the dual carriageway, and I am not cycling on that!!

Might have a look for a different route via bike and car for future.

At least the weather is going to be nice for easter, so plenty of cycling to be had!
