Well sort of. Within a week of starting, I had a chest infection so been off bike for 3 weeks. However back on for a week now. Pleasantly surprised to notice an improvement already. Started cycling to work 4.5 miles on way, and apart from jelly legs when I get off I am managing fine. My times seem to have improved a bit as well!

Great news. Keep up the good work and you will soon be riding home 'the pretty route'

I'm not surprised you are seeing immediate improvements - I know I did. You will also see fewer chest infections if you're anything like me. I have a deep belief in outdoor exercise as the way to health - the first winter I commuted through was fairly dry and cold - I only do about 3 or 4 commutes a week 3.5 miles each way - I didn't get a single cold. Last winter was a bit different as it was so darned wet but I still felt pretty good most of the winter. You will feel so much better at work as well. Enjoy the feeling!

I could only manage just over 3 miles a week or so ago - yesterday I did 11 miles (along the flat but still) - I put City Jet tyres on my bike and that has made a massive improvment

I'm not brave enough to try a commute (I work 12 hour shifts) but I'm tempted more and more to do so. (My commute is 5 miles)

I'm sure if I tried it I would love it

I dont commute as such but i do have a 5 mile ride to the hospitial most Fridays, with a 100ft climb in the first 1 1/2 miles loads of lights a junction of the M62 to go through, I have been doing this for over two years since I started, i used to hate that climb these days its a none issue time about 20-22 mins, takes almost as long to get ready. if I have to go to Wakefield about 10 miles this is about 40-45mins both these journeys are quicker than by public transport.

I've started doing a 3.5 mile circuit before work every other day - first time was 17 minutes, third time this morning was 15 minutes (with a top speed of 25mph ! )
It's not particularly flat , and I feel fine when I get off the bike - just need to sort the position of the bars as there's too much weight on my hands
