A few weeks ago I agreed to do the coast to coast (from Whitehaven to Tynemouth )
I had been doing alright with my training and lost a good bit of weight, so I thought I would give it a go.
Ideally I would have liked more time to train but wanting to do it with some of my workmates lead me into this early attempt.

It is fair to say that it is a little hilly in places
I set myself the goal of just making all the climbs without having to push, or stop for a breather. I should have really had a better look at the hill profiles before setting this goal.

I can now proudly say that not only did I make the ride, I achieved my goal of making all the climbs and to be honest in reasonable times.

Could have done with a bigger range on the cassette at times, because the mountain bikers spinning away to the top had me very envious.

Finally I would like to thank everyone who has given me no end of advice, motivation, inspiration and support. I started at the same time as quite a few other beginners on here and hope that new Newbie's get as much as I do from cycling.

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
:bravo:well done you

Fantastic. From your post it looks like you plan to keep cycling? I was rather chubby when I started (understatement) and I recently completed the TPT. Two years ago I could barely do 3miles. Can't believe what a difference cycling has made to my life (and chubbiness).
Once again congratulations you must feel really good to have completed this ride. It looks blooming tough.

Well done, and over difficult terrain nonetheless.
