So after waiting what felt like an eternity I picked up my bike on Saturday last. I absolutely love it and despite just finishing a gruelling week of night shifts decided I had to get out and about. All kitted up and slightly apprehensive of the inevitable fall when I forgot to unclip both myself and Mrs Puntsdog set off for a little ride. Mrs Puntsdog is by comparison a seasoned rider and is well clued up and practised in the dark arts of road cycling so I was happy to follow her lead. She took me at a steady pace on what turned into an 8.8 mile ride which I could not have enjoyed more. The only downside was that I developed a bit of cramp in my calf three quarters of the way through and had to stop to stretch it out. My fault entirely as I was showing off trying to overtake her! I'll know better I future. Shamefully the cramp was not without complication and has grounded me until tomorrow with a very sore muscle but I am sure I will make it out. I can really see the enjoyment in this and look forward to the many miles ahead. Roll on tomorrow morning!
