I'm travelling down from Yorkshire and will base myself at my brother's in Maidenhead but i'm torn between going alone and cycling over to catch the race outbound near Weybridge and then pop over to Esher to catch the race again, OR to leave the bike at home and take my young lad with me and watching it as near to the finish as possible.

Plus don't forget the TTs will be the following midweek based around Hampton Court, a good chance to see every rider in full on action.
The road race around the Box Hill bit will be rammed, and roads closed so even riding on them will be a no-no, there are some good spots through the village at the top and on the (very quick) descent, at 13km a lap the riders should be round in about 16-17 minutes. 9 laps by the men, 2 for the women.

Unfortunately I very much doubt I will be there but if I was my choice would be on the Mall and as close to the finish as I could get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^If it's anything like the rehearsal, it'll be absolutely rammed - even down Constitution Hill. And they thoughtfully put huge screens up in the Mall for the last two hundred metres, so we plebs are unable to watch the final, final gallop. No idea where I'll go yet. Maybe somewhere around Sloane St/Kings Road

Best place to watch it will be on the telly.
If I lived nearby I reckon I might make the effort to catch a glimpse of them.

The zig zag part of Box Hill is being closed off with ticket only access, with all the roads closed from 6.30 am, so get there early. More info here.

I found a little spot close to the finish but well away from the crowds for the race. It still gave me no idea who won, though.
