I have an Android phone that is currently not being used and am thinking of using it as a bike computer.
Have a handlebar mount on the way.
Think I'll get a SIM card, put some credit on it and have it in case of emergencies.

Mainly will be used for navigation and to upload to Strava or wherever after ride is done.

Thinking of -
Komoot,
Garmin Connect (I have a Garmin watch that I usually wear),
Strava (free version).

Any other apps that would be useful on it (bearing in mind I won't have any data allowance)?

Don't all those work off the internet?

Yeah, but I'd be using WiFi at home to map and load a route, then after I finish WiFi again to sync to Strava.
While I'm out on the bike it will only be GPS being used for navigation.

That's how I hope it will work anyway!

You can download offline maps using Google maps. Just select the area you'll be riding in.
It's usually the battery life that makes it worthwhile using a Garmin or so.

Is your phone screen bright enough to use in sunlight? (Even if it IS, you will probably have to crank up the brightness and that will flatten the battery quicker. You might need to use an external power pack to top up the charge.)

My old phone's screen is NOT bright enough, otherwise I would consider doing the same thing.
