Oi, Chuffy - you seen this?

I thought is illegal to run surface water i.e roof gutters into the sewerage system in buildings built after a certain year.

I don't know what buidling regs say. This is about water that falls on surface area - car parks, graveyards, allotments, school sports fields. It's sickening that OFWAT and the water companies even got this far with these plans.

First I've seen of it. But then, I don't have an allotment, just a very large garden.

If this works out as the links in the OP imply, then it's going to represent a huge increase in revenue for the water companies. I'd be interested to know what is driving that (and shrieking 'greed!' doesn't constitute a valid answer btw...)...;)

Doesn't stop you writing to your MP. You could use the letter posted in the thread as a template.

Alright, I won't say "greed". I'll say "maximising the business opportunity", and "maximising shareholder value". How does that sound?

Plugging holes in investment funds more like, but who knows...

Yes, I could write to my MP, but only as a civilian. I don't have a stake in the issue, unlike owners of club premises for example.

Well, any help would be gratefully received. This affects anyone who goes to church, plays Sunday League football, cricket, bowls, has a child in the Scouts, grows a few veg on an allotment. And who knows - perhaps they'll have a look at your big garden and decide to levy the charge on that?
