I have had to repair both my front and rear tyres twice within the last week due to punctures. On all three occasions green bottle glass was the culprit. I know that I am using cheep Halfords tyres as they are all I can afford at the moment but still I now hate green beer bottle glass. ;) This is made even more frustrating by way of the fact that I do not even drink alcohol.

On a positive note however I am becoming quite adept at roadside puncture repairs.

Green & brown bottle glass is often harder to see in your tyres as well.

My last one was green glass too.

tdr1nka - Thanks very much for the welcome and yes those two colours are a nightmare especially when trail riding.

longers - I guess you could be right but knowing the kind of people around my area who would smash glass on the ground my money is still on beer bottles lol.

honestly, invest in good puncture resistant tyre like Specialized Nimbus Armadillo. I'm on my third set. I know it's a lot of money but you won't regret it. I've had one puncture in about eight years!

OK thank you. I will look into those tyres and similar. The biggest problem I think I have is that the tyres supplied with the bike were 26" 1.95's These seem to be a rather hard size to find. What do you think my chances are of getting a different size diameter tyre to fit the rim?

I doubt there is any tyre that will withstand an attack of the remnants of a broken beer bottle

Nimbus Armadillo do, no problem.

On the Specialized web site they used to have a video of a guy riding back and forth over a long tray filled with broken glass. Without having to fix punctures at either end obviously. I first bought them because I was sick to death of getting punctures on the glass-strewn cycle track that runs past our house. I've ridden over piles of glass with the Nimbus many times. The only puncture I've had was a direct hit by a steel staple when the tyre was very worn down, and even then it was a slow.
