Odd Creaking Noise

Hi,

I have an odd creaking noise somewhere on my bike. It only appears when I am pulling hard on th hoods or drop bars. It sounds like something might not be oil right. Has anyone got any ideas?

Hi Bigseal...
It could be a multitude of things, but start with your cranks. Are they tight ?

Handlebars / forks ? Stand over the bike and pull on the bars...can you reproduce the sound ? I have a full carbon fork that creaked...it just wanted tightening (very tight) on the top bolt.

Frame ?...look carefully for cracks. I had an alloy frame that cracked under the bottom bracket, it used to creak when out of the seat. Took me a while to find it. (probably the worst case scenario)

I'm sure there'll be other suggestions.

Bar stem interface. If alloy, undo regrease !
