This is not a problem with the old crown jewels but that part of the anatomy just lower down. It was bad on my road bike till I decided on some decent padded shorts........massive improvement!
On my stationary excercise bike (big padded seat) I wear normal shorts and am fine for 20-30 minutes then the numbness creeps in. I do think it is getting slightly better/easier (only been using it for 4 weeks-2 or 3 times per week).
Funny but I seem to remember as a young teenager I could cycle all day with no problems and in those days (I'm 65) I dont think padded shorts had been invented.

I find that getting the right saddle, in the right position, is key to me in this regard. Fore/aft and height positions are important. It could be that the tube angles on the exercise bike is different and is throwing your usual set-up out a little. I know that the measurements on my TT frame differ from my road frame and so I had to fiddle with the saddle set-up on the TT bike when I started using it.

Probably due to the "big padded seat" being too big and padded. If you can, put a proper saddle on there.

Also, if possible, try angling the nose of the saddle down a little but from its current possition. (NOTE: From its CURRENT possition, not neccessarily from a level horizon)

Thanks to all-I have moved the saddle forward slightly. If that doesn't work I will try altering the angle (of the saddle that is). I am only doing 15 mins tomorrow and will do 1 hour on Friday.......... I will report back:bicycle:

This happens also if you spend a long time off the bike, a few regular rides in succession breaks you back into the swing of it for longer distances. Of course if your saddle blatantly doesnt suit then you can tell even on short rides from the lack of comfort.

My personal gauge is if I cannot ride twenty miles without experiencing discomfort then the saddle is either setup poorly (and may require some tweaking) or after some tinkering concede that it is just not the right one.

Maybe part of the problem is lack of movement on the stationary bike?
I have no comfort issues on my road bike when I'm on the road, but when I use it on rollers I get numb after 20-30 mins because I tend not to (and it's difficult to) change position.
Have you tried moving about or standing up on the exercise bike every so often and adjusting position, to see if that helps?

I found this too, I got a tingle and numbness in my penis, but found if I turned the saddle very slightly to one side, as in the front point of the saddle pointing five to twelve instead of twelve, the nerve in question wasnt flattened but seemed to go slightly to the side of the saddle ridge. So stopping the pressure and the tingle/numbness.

I wouldn't twist a saddle off centre, you are potentially going to cause knee or hip problems, not just sore 'bits'. Certainly recommend changing a saddle from a big soft one to something smaller and 'harder' with a cut out if you prefer.
The issues here is pressure on the pudendal nerve which can lead to the numbness feeling, in addition it can feel funny passing urine and when you ejaculate***.

Rather then use a padded seat, try one of these - .
***I assume I haven't got to do both things while still on the bike:headshake:

Funnily enough I have the Specialised book and have been looking at those sadles.

I do try but like you -I find it more difficult when 'stationary'. Also I dont wear padded shorts like I do when on the road bike.
