Jus got some Lidl bar ends and grips last week,

I like the position I get in being on the bar ends, just been out battling against the wind and getting numb hands when riding on the ends. Hands I though pretty relaxed, kind of balanced ont he bar ends. I have them pretty flat some I'm as low as possible, no gloves yet, they arrive next week.

Should I move the ends slightly more upright or just persevere? Did 30 odd miles couple of times last week on the flats bars with only minor numbness, nothing that can't be shaken out in 30 seconds, but annoying none the less.

I am not a doctor but pressure on the ulnar nerves is what one should watch out for. If you haven't seen it before it is worth looking at Ergon's explanation at the bottom of this page.

Having them flatter could be putting pressure and restricting blood flow to the hand. (as above)

You could try having them more towards 90 degrees to your forearm in your normal cycling postion. Sometimes gloves can make this better or worse.

Nothing to say you can't have them at any angle you want.

I wished I'd picked some of these bar grips up from Lidl for the better half. How long do these things last in the stores? I know ALDI stuff can go in days.

You should still be able to get them I think - very few people are going to go in and by 1/2 a dozen bar ends, unlike shirts where they seem to buy them by the trolly-load.

Might be worth reviewing your positoin on the bike.

You want to evenly spread your weight between handlebar, pedals and saddle.

If the saddle position is pushing you forward, it's puts more strain on hands and wrists.

Well moving the saddle helped a huge amount, virtually no numbness on my 15 mile ride today, I will tweak it a little more forward and a little higher I think, felt a lot better peddling today as well.

I got the same bar ends last week too, used for the first time on Monday and i also felt some numbness for a while. Not so bad today though. My problem seems to be not being able to get them tight enough, no matter what i do there's still a bit of movement.

Mine are proper tight. Did some measuring and got Mrs endo to look at seat height etc. It was exactly at 109% of inside leg so I'm leaving that, nudged it more to the front, it's now in the middle, came from the shop as far back as it would go, that explains my reaching out for the bars.

Learning more every day! Glad the bike was only cheap,

38 miles today and no numbness, seat must be about right now, was easier pedalling as well,
Used some padded fingerless gloves as well, that enabled me to find a more comfy hand position when battling back into the wind.
