Our Wednesday club ride sometimes goes to the Roots Cafe at Catforth between Preston and Blackpool. They have inner tubes, chains, water bottles, gear cables, bar tape etc for sale. I was surprised at their prices, that can't make much profit as they're about 50% cheaper than my LBS!

I always carry a monkey in 50s as waving it brashly is the best way to push in when I'm too important to queue for something.
I knew I'd seen you somewhere.

Were you in the group waiting close to the White Ladies Priory?
No, I was on my own going the other way. I stopped to make sure they were OK, but soon moved on as they were waiting for a leader and going up Boscobel Hill towards Brewood. I went Neachley Lane, Lizard Lane, Burlington Ford, Orslow, Cowley and then Church Eaton and home via Lapley.

I was wearing Lotto Jumbo kit and riding an Infifnito CV.

I was the fat git on a large yellow and red steel frame. Burlington ford, is that the one with a pavé bit through it?

Burlington Ford is the one just north of the A5 west of Weston Park. It can be tricky, but if you pick a line and roll through it is OK. You have the choice of a smooth bottom or a stony bottom. I prefer the latter in the interests of tyre adhesion. I met a lot of riders today, but I would not be surprised if we passed each other. Were you out alone too?

Drum and Monkey, Whaley Bridge.

Another spot that's making the effort to welcome cyclists....and Whaley is a very popular little town for cyclists riding in the Peak District.. Sheffield stand out front, you can borrow a bike lock, free use of pub's track pump. Not sure if they sell biking bits and bobs though. Excellent beer selection too

It's good business for them of course but if somewhere's going to put some effort in to attract cyclists then I'm happy to give them a free advert here

Can you leave your shed door unlocked please, I'll be round tonight.

Good point, I have deleted some details, can you do the same please. (Though the best bikes are in the house, not the shed!)

Profits in the customer base, and the beer. The rest can be used as an attraction. Good business practice.

Yup I went through that ford. Very shallow at the moment! I was confused for a while when I got to the A5. They must have changed the junction as there used to be a sort of triangle bit. I had a brain fart where is the road to Shifnal moment.

I was riding alone. I was wearing a Simon's Cat jersey and swearing about shoes/cleats/pedals.
