baaned for 2 years ,didnt know he was still going even .a bad few weeks for cycling dont think the sport will ever get away from doping scandals ,dont honestly think it goes on as much now but the sport will always be seen by non cyclists as full of drug cheats

He retired in 2007, so the ban will have a limited effect, dunno what his involvement with cycling is now. I bet he's fatter than me now!

I think I read that he has started to do sportives, presumably for money. I don't know if this will affect him or not.

As I read on another forum (so I can't take credit for it!), it'll be Tom Simpson next!

I once said jokily that I thought the results of the late 90s & 00s should stand as is but ought be summarised as 'the doping years'.

+1, but you would presumably have to include most of the years before that as well.
In fact it may be easier to define 2010 and later as the non-doping years, but on second thoughts perhaps not.

I disagee with the wording of CAS in regard to Ullrich.
"Ullrich engaged AT LEAST in blood doping" If they find him guilty of blood doping that's fair enough, say so.
Don't imply that he's guilty of some other unnamed, unproven trangessions, of which there is no evidence.

He's pretty fit and rides just for fun and does sportives, as Rich P says.

I hope the FA doesn't follow CAS's example and issue Alan Hansen with a three match ban for criticizing referees decisions !

No, RichP said that " he has started to do sportives, presumably for money"
I was guessing about the money Alun. I know that a lot of ex-pros make money from sportives; one I almost did in the Pyrenees had Merckx, Indurain, Hinault and Roche(?) on the start line and I'm pretty sure they weren't there to show off their fatness fitness.

There's money in sportives, a lot of them are really mass participation races in Italy and France, decent prize money, team racing, support cars, the lot. It can be quite lucrative, and no testing either. Something for Mr Ricco, which I'm sure he will have thought about, just leave a spare kidney half way!
