Hi
I posted a week ago about my chain drooping. I took the bike to mechanic and he said the cassette isn't spinning freely. Which was obvious when he showed me. I did change the axle and freehub myself. And what's happening is when I tighten the nuts both sides it seems to be clamping the freehub and stopping it spinning. I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than me could take a look at the pictures below and see if I've lost something. Or if there's something wrong with the order I've put things in.
Once again massive thanks for any help

Without a technical breakdown diagram of your particulkar hub it is hard to say but a couple of questions:
You said you changed the bearings - did that include any inside the freehub body? Check there isn't a seized bearing in there.
There is often a rubber seal of some kind between the freehub body and the hub - if missing it will mean as you tighten the caps/locknut it will press on the bearing and cause drag.
There is a silver spacer in the photo - can't see where you have pout that in the other pics. Does that need to be ontop of the bearing on the freehub side?
If all ok then it is just a question of slackening off the locknut a smidge so it runs freely.

Best if you can locate a breakdown diagram from manufacturer really to be sure

Thanks for the reply.. Ive got a technical drawing, I can't see anything missing tbh.. the rubber seal is there it's just not in the picture. The silver o ring you mentioned goes just over the bearing which I believe is the same as the diagram below

Prob just a case of being careful how tight to do up the locknut then - ease it up so there is no play then lock it.

Hi
Yeh it's f372sb... Im almost sure I know what the problem is but I don't know how to fix it. I don't think the axle is going in far enough. And instead of the end cap stopping when the thread stops, it's pushing into the freehub. I think the only things stopping it going in further are the bearings. But I've hammered them in as far as they'll go. So maybe get thinner bearings?

I feel like the thread above should be protuding enough to see the end of it.. that way I could tighten the axle sufficiently and it wouldn't squash the freehub

Might sound silly but have you got the axle the right way around?
Also check that your bearings are the right depth - a mm wrong way can cause issues

Hi
Is the shim in the picture above so I know what it looks like?
Yeh it's definitely the same freehub, I've got the old one still here
It's not just nipping the bearing it's pushing down, hence me thinking the axle isnt in far enough
It will only go in one way so I'm almost sure it's the right way around

Are you tapping the axle through from non-drive side and by doing so displacing that bearing. Need to get it in place at freehub body side and tap through to nds to avoid that. Other than that I can't help any further
