Hello.
We thought you’d like to know about an event we’re organising to help raise funds for our unique disability cycling project.
As most of you know, Cyclemagic is a totally self-financing not-for-profit organisation based in Leicester. For over eleven years our core aim has been to help people with disability or special need enjoy the benefits of cycling. We run this project on an entirely voluntary basis and raise all the funds for it through our commercial work.
There are very few organisations willing to undertake the building or adapting of these individual machines and often the amount of time it takes to build would make them cost prohibitive to many customers if we were to charge more than a nominal amount.
We also have a wide-ranging fleet of specialist machines for groups and individuals to use on a regular basis and during our assessment of new customers. It currently costs us around £5000 per year to store and maintain these bikes.
Due to a steady increase in the demand for our services from people across the UK, we are aiming to raise £25,000 over the next three years to enable an increase in both our capacity and range of machines.
So, we’ve decided to organise a series of fund raising events beginning with a bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats. However, as I’m sure you’d expect from us, it won’t be a normal Le-Jog on normal bikes.
We’re looking for people to join us on a relay riding some of our more unusual machines including Tall Bikes, Penny Farthings, tandems, tricycles, circus bikes and anything else we find or built in the meantime (although anyone wanting to join us on a normal bike will be most welcome!).
