None at all I should think, I entered 60 miler last year, then changed my mind and did the 100 miler. Emailed peter harrison beforehand, he said sign on for the 60 and do the 100 circuit, and the timing chip etc will know which checkpoints you clocked in at so your time will be in the 100 mile list.

No problems on the day - great day, great weather.

Did the 60 miler last time after five weeks off the bike. I was riding my brothers bike and it had high and higher gears, gorund up the Ryals on the 42. That hurt!!;)

Thinking about doing the hundrded this year, is it much harder than the 60?

Well, I guess it's all relative (to your fitness level, experience of doing the distance etc). I did the 63 in 2008, and that was a challenge. But I then cycled 17 miles home () and someone pointed out I might as well have gone for the longer ride
So this June I 'stepped up to the mark'. I'd done 100 in a day before, but taking my time (on mtb, with panniers, riding on road, starting breakfast time, finishing evening), so not quite the same. I cycle most weekends, so reasonably fit most of the time. In the 2 months or so before the 100, I increased weekly mileage, and made sure to do three 70+ mile rides to get ready. The 100 was no problem  I'm not the fastest (about 14mph on the 100) but it was fine. Looking forward to next time.

Did the 100 last year. The extra 40 odd miles you will be adding on are up and down, up and down, some long exposed climbs. A good proportion of the 60 miler must be reasonably flat, certainly after the Ryals its mostly downhill/flat as you know from last year.

Do it anyway;)

Cheers guys, don't mind hills these days as i've got a 30/39/50 on tge front now. I've got a couple of weeks free after my dissertation before the day so hopefully get plenty of training runs in. Attack the Ryals couple of times:biggrin:

I signed up for the 64 mile one (It says 62 but Peter is going to add another climb or two).

I will be number 1073, I might be riding a Black Specialized Allez on the day, so say hi!

Not sure if I'm riding the 100 or the short one (30-odd??).

Missus and kids now thinking about taking part in short one, so I will have to enter that, and push em round.;)

Is the short course flat? I went past quite a few family groups last year, with kids similar ages to mine so I guess its doable for them, they are pretty active/outdoor types, not done that distance on bikes though.

Either way, will be entering one of em.

There's a few hills in the short one which will probably be a challenge for younger or inexperienced riders, but it is 'family-friendly'.
