Hi wondering what non-specific cycling shoes people wear to cycle in? Looking for something that's waterproof ideally but not a bulky walking boot. Thanks for any help.

Nope, i used to wear a £20 pair of london trainers, they are slip ons, light and look the part of cycling shoes, now i am clipless so don't use them.
There cheap enough to buy ,not waterproof though.
Just buy any trainers you like the look of,you can get specific non clip in cycle shoes but i think there too heavy looking.

Why not go for a mtb cycling shoe. Lots of them look like trainers, but have a stiffer sole which will help your cycling. A decent pair from specialized will cost you £80, but lots of cheaper options.
Considering the prics of trainers these days .... Not a great difference on price, but a better fit for cycling and walking.
You could at a later stage fit spd pedals and go clipless, not necassary, but an option

For cold/wet/muddy conditions, I wear a retired pair of running trainers. After my last ride in the rain (only ride in the rain since I've been in Spain) I'm considering getting some Sealskinz waterproof socks to wear when it's raining heavily. That seems better than waterproof shoes to me because, if water gets in the top of your waterproof shoes (if you get badly splashed by a car, for example), it can't get out again.

For cycling in heavy rain I use yachting wellie boots and waterproof trousers. These boots are made of thinner material than ordinary wellies so provide adequate flexibility in the ankle area for pedalling.
