I like to cycle on my Brompton in 'normal' clothes and sometimes this involves a flowing skirt or a dress with a full skirt - I am careful with the length to avoid the chain, but lightweight materials can take on a life of their own, especially at the moment with reasonable weather but a bit windy.

I do wear shorts underneath for both modesty and padding, but have found that a lightweight full skirt can literally ride up so far that it only stops when it runs out of somewhere to go, i.e. it is bunched up in front of my waist!

A friend who is into the whole Slow Bike movement suggested NoMonro skirt/dress clips - I figured with the amount of money I have spent on cycling stuff since getting the Brompton, whats another 20 euros or so?

I tried it for the first time this morning, and whilst it won't ever prevent the skirt from going up a little bit, it did weight it down quite a bit and only showed a little bit of knee, and not my shorts at all, which are mid thigh length underneath. It works like a covered 'clic-clac' hairgrip. Rock chick that I am, I just have the plain black leather one.

They are beautifully packaged so make nice gifts from the country that is best at presenting cycling as a normal way of getting around in normal clothes.

I don't work for them - I was just getting annoyed at my combinations of clothes pegs/bulldog clips ......
