Put my new wheels on bike mavic akuim or summit there called from edinburgh cycles now not sure if its just me but compared to the heavy 36spoked wheels that where on they seem to make a lot of noise on the road and u can hear the wind through them if that makes sense whoke bike just seems more noisy now compared to the wheels that were on but on plus side there a hell of a lot lighter and can seem to go faster now

cheers

My lightweight lowspoke-count wheels also make more noise than my 'Traditional wheels'.
I think it's down to the extra tension in the spokes and maybe stiffer rims which transmit more road noise, also the aero/bladed spokes act a bit more like rotors on a chopper. Added to the fact you might be going slightly faster as well creates a bit more noise either. Do you have the tyres at a higher pressure too?

It's the slight vibration from the road that makes the rim/spokes sing - try running along a white line (when there is no traffic) and the noise should stop.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
My Aksiums 'sang' for a month or two, but now all I hear is the hiss of the tyres. After 3 years - almost - they are still spot on true - in spite of all sort of appalling surfaces, and an unfortunate pothole pinch flat last sunday.
