This is really starting to annoy me now. My rear disc brake has just started to rub on the disc. How do i sort this. I have tried loosening the rear brake hub, squeezing the brake and then re-tightening the hub but this is not working for me.
Any other suggestions???

Oh by the way I have a Trek 6300 mtb

I was still having the problem so i took it into my lbs. I went out on it today and it is still the same, the noise from the rear wheels/brake seems to get worse the farther i ride it. The chap in my local lbs done what he could but he said a little rubbing of the brakes is not unusual ??

It is really annoying me, i think i may take it to another bike shop we have locally, or should i have a go at it myself.

This may not go down well in some circles, but I had the same problem with the hydraulic discs on my Cycles Maximus rickshaw. What I did was to take out the pads and file a small (and I do mean small) chamfer on to the leading edge of the pads. I had no squeal or rubbing noises after that.

I am willing to try anything, thanks. I am bringing my road bike out again so my MTb may not see much action till next winter. I can spend plenty of time working on the problem

Sounds as if pistons may be sticking which seems to be very common on Avids especially if they are not used regularly. Suggest take wheel & pads out. Squeeze lever gently to push the pistons out a fair way (without popping them out completely of course) - apply a bit of silicon lube/brake fluid and then manually push the pistons back in. This is sometimes sufficient to lube the piston and its seal to get them working again. If not then you can rebuild the caliper with new pistons & seals. Kit costs about £10. Brake would obviously need rebleed after a rebuild.
