Recently got some rollers. The first few days were fine but now they are making a squealy noise, like angry sea lions are chasing me. They seem to be running fine , though I have no experince with rollers. I'm having no trouble riding them (other than newbie nerves), they feel smooth and are not bouncing around. I did read the instructions when setting them up, though was keen to get riding so maybe I missed something. The only part I didn't use from the box was a peice of padded tape, which the instructions did not mention, I speculated it was for sticking on the frame to prevent scratches when mounting/dismounting... but now I'm not so sure.
Can anyone hazzard a guess as to where the noise is coming from?

I have that for the first few minutes after being off the rollers for a few months, I'm guessing the "squealy noise" you describe might be down to the tyres, perhaps they are squirming a bit from side to side? As you get more practice, it will probably disappear. Also, I imagine that keeping the tyre pressure up towards the max might help?

It may be residual stuff on the belt that drives the front roller, and may wear off with a little use. You might check to see that everything is spinning properly, with out resistance. I would hate to think you had a bad roller bearing.

They seem to spin smoothly. I don't think it's bad bearings. They are cheap rollers, Minoura Moz but look good enough quality for a beginer. It's likley tire or band slipping. As they were near silent the first few times I'm wondering if sweat/condensation is playing a part?

what are the roller bits made from? My Tacx rollers are 'plastic' and the tyres squeak if the surfaces are not cleaned every now and then. Also, my rollers became very noisy after 10 or so uses. This seems like a common problem for the Tacx rollers, and many people seem to return them for it. Turns out, just a bit of grease in the 6 bearings made mine perfectly quiet for the next 3+ years and counting!!!
