I can see exactly why he has done it.
Reminds me of this post about Photographers, applies pretty much to all freelancers. When I tried to working as a freelance web developer with a friend it was really hard. People have no expectations of how much something like a website should cost and they always have a relative that knows a bit of HTML and can set them up with something.

I get the feeling something deeper is going on - he says he has limited willow supplies and not the time to make custom bicycle baskets any more. Seems to be a general withdrawal from activity rather than just a blog thing.
