I'm currently enjoying rides o my new wheels. It's my first bike in decades without full suspensions. Two things strike me...

1) how much easier it is riding up hills. All my energy going into moving the bike not bouncing the suspension. And the speed! Wished I'd got rid of suspension a long time ago.

2) The pot holes! My god. I'm riding on the roads and my arms are taking one hell of a pounding! I'm begining to hate the idea of cyclepaths. They were fun with full sus, but I think I'd do myself an injury now.

Have to admit I'm in two minds about springs. My daily ride to work is reasonably pothole-free (or at least I know where they are to avoid them). But I had a ride on a GT Avalanche the other day with rigid rear and springs up front, and I had a thoroughly fun time!

I still dislike rear springs though - my Chinese folder has a sprung rear end and it's hideously inefficient and rides like a ten-stone jelly

You're supposed to to ride around the potholes, or jump over them. Also, keep your arms bent and don't grip the bars too tightly.
