Night Ridery

There's always a first time for everything. A dry evening, a relatively new Cube Acid, some nice house on the mp3 and a Magicshine MJ872. The only thing I needed was a trail...?

Ah, Ashton Court! It will put a stressful start to the year and a particularly shitty few weeks to the back of my mind, I says. Mind you, I didn't get started till a little after 9pm which was slightly later than a first-timer on a trail in the dark would have liked.

Needless to say I had a great time and only got back around an hour ago. The Magicshine was awesome and if I wasn't sold on trail riding before, I am now. The night was overcast with an atmospheric, waning moon rising over Bristol, but despite the wind it wasn't cold. It felt so much quicker in the dark and whilst I'm still getting used to the machine, she's really starting to behave as I want her to. (Whilst I've never dared using brakes to affect actual movement one way or the other in a car, on a mountain bike it's becoming second nature). The geometry still feels a touch cramped and some 150 miles in now, I think she's due a service.

I loved every minute of it.

I do a fair bit of night riding, one night last week being particularly magical in the snow and a bright moon, more people should try it.

My last two night rides have been in Delamere forrest, once in the snow, once in the fog. Something about those rides in particular that made me feel, well, so alive.

Apart from the spooky monsters hiding in the shadows, I love night riding off-road, can't get enough if it.

Yep, that's a good way of putting it SF, I felt like a kid again for a while which was rather nice and there is that sensation of life affirmation you get from roaring around in the elements.
