Greetings,

I was looking through this forum for a new bike for me to commute with. The Specialized Globe 2008 seems like the ideal bike but I can not find it for sale anymore. Instead I chose to go the route of the Carrera Subway from Halfords. Damn, those guys suck. I reserved the bike, went down to collect, they didn't have it but left me waiting for half an hour until they told me. Ah well.

So, I thought I'd ask for help on here. Is there any place to still buy the 08 version of the Specialized Globe? My commute isn't terribly far and I like being quite rough on the bike.

Budget is £250 if anyone knows of anything else in this range.

Thanks for any replies.

Hi and welcome.
It may be a good idea to let us know where you are.

Have you looked online?
Just had a check myself and there are a good few stores selling off the 08 Globe (brilliant bike btw).

Halfords are a complete pain, but as the proud owner of 6 bikes I can vouch for the Subway as a great bike.

The Globe is very different though as it has 700c wheels (road size). The Subway has 26" wheels (MTB size)

I have been VERY pleased with mine. I love it as an allrounder and have upgraded all the drivetrain and the wheels over the past few years. Ideal for taking on family holidays as it will do road or offroad. To be honest it does 98% of what my Koga Miyata touring bike does and will do 50 mile road rides fine too. Takes mudguards and a rack..... I would locate one from Halfords and get that. You should have cash to spare too, which based on some people's feedback you may need to spend to get it checked over, as Halfords branches vary in competence

Hi sorry,

My name is Dan. I recently picked up a really old MTB from my sister. Extremely girly pink bike that had it's day a long time ago. I used to cycle a lot when I was young but haven't at all for quite a while. I was spending a lot of money of travel to and from work so when this pink bike was given to me, I really noticed the savings.

Thanks to FatFella I've ordered the Globe 2008. I can honestly say that I spent 3-4 hours looking for that bike last night. Thanks dude.

This is a sweet forum. Think I'll stick around ;)

If you're in London then gumtree is also a good place to look - the specialized globe comes up all the time.

Unfortunately tourers rarely come up and that's what I'm waiting for

You might regret sticking around!
