Asa Post has asked me to pass on some news, he came off his bike this morning after hitting a patch of ice and ended up in A & E with a broken right hip. He is due to have an operation tomorrow to plate and pin the break rather than have a replacement as this should give a better outcome - mobility wise.
He was helped by a couple of good samaritans who were behind him in a car, they phoned for an ambulance and took his bike home with them for safe keeping.
He will be in hospital for around a week, on crutches for 6 weeks and then should be fully fit in around 6 months, his bike seems to have come out of this much better and is reportedly not damaged very much at all.

After his 6 week xray he was told to carry on using them & gradually build up the weight bearing on his hip over the next 6 weeks
