Just started my 10 mile each way commute - new road bike, laden with Aldi cycling kit!

I have bought the Aldi water/wind proof for £20 but am concerned that its the 'crisp packet' style of water proof and definitely not breathable.

Before I wear this - do you reckon I would be better with a breathable windproof top? Am I going to turn in to a sweaty pulp?!

I have a walking jacket adequate for any heavy rain - I do need something to keep the cold air off my chest now winter is coming. For uber cold days I have the Aldi winter jacket which is fine - its a 'normal' windy day (like this morning!) I'm thinking of.

Thinking something in the same price bracket......maybe like the dhb wisp?

Any recommendations?

Hmmm....I will have another look but it seems to be made of seemingly non breathable plastic.

Certainly as a cheap waterproof I doubt it will be very breathable - certainly less so than a non-waterproof windproof.

Keen not to waste £20!

Unless it raining i would rather wear a base layer and a long sleeve jersey with a gilet as i have found that pretty much any rain coat tends to just keep the heat in which is not something i need unless its getting sub zero.

Edit, kinda
This last week i have been commuting home from night shift and tuesday/ wednesday morning it got to about 5-6 degrees and if i had only a ss jersey i might have got away with that jacket but i opted for a ss jersey as a base layer, arm warmers , ls jersey and a gilet on top and tbh i was too warm but i do tend to give it the beans .The last couple of days i have opted just for the LS jersey with a gilet .
When it gets really cold i bought a couple of the aldi winter long sleeve jerseys with the roubiax (fleecy) lining rather than go for a boil in the bag coat.
It might sound like i wear to many things but i always thought it was better to layer with breathable fabrics so you can always take a layer off if your to hot, the gilet stays on for commuting as it has a lot of reflective details and i ride on unlit country lanes.
